UCC God is Still Speaking

how is God still speaking to us at Tabernacle United Church?

God is still speaking to us through nature; through the majesty and beauty of the mountains, through the feel of the wind on our faces, the sound of a babbling brook or stream, the rush of a waterfall, the brilliant colors of autumn and the sparkling sight of fresh fallen snow... God is still speaking.
Lynne Major and Lynn Lampman

We hear God at Tab because we are interested in what God is saying to us. God is still speaking, and we are still listening.
Kip Leitner

You can hear Her in the buzz at coffee hour. We renew old friendships, make new ones, plot new projects, hear about upcoming events and celebrate the bounty of the earth.
Katie Day

By expanding our reach to other faith groups.
By work and worship
with all faith groups
and all ages.
By inclusion of all peoples of all sexual orientations, in our outreach. By putting our feet, our money, our prayers when and where
they are needed
Mario Howell

through hugs and smiles and tears and joy and sadness and hurt and anger
and grief
through the everyday efforts and passions and kindnesses and yearnings and
learnings of all everyday people
God is still speaking through every living piece of God's creation. there
is wisdom within every person animal plant and tree. even rocks and
decaying things abound with histories. with all the loudness and rushing of
our culture we think God is silent. but i think there is a constant ever
present whisper that emanates from all things around us and we must slow
down and consciously cultivate stillness in order to hear it and engage
with God in dialogue. it is not that there is no voice, i think, we have
simply begun to lose the ability to listen.
through our own words. we tend to listen for wisdom outside of ourselves.
but listen to your own words. i think we can find god within the words we
are already saying.

God is still identifying the strangers and the outcasts in our midst.

At Tabernacle I feel we are bound by love and justice rather than dogma.
Deb Ahrens

in the call of the prayer bowl, as its round tones fill the air and surround us,
in the rhythm of the chants we sing together,
in the hug from a friend, and the warm smile from a stranger,
in the outreached hand, when help is most needed,
in the acceptance of help, whenever we offer it,
in our laughter as we watch an advent play,
in our hands as we create tiles, and carry signs, and make puppets talk,
in scripture, in poetry, in sorrow,
in the loud wind that knocks down power lines,
in the silence,
God is still speaking.
Susan Quant
God is still speaking to all of us;
all faiths, all races, all nationalities;
and we are thankful for God's continued presence and voice.
